Do You “Like” Facebook’s New Page Feature?
The jury is still out, but I think I’m going to give Facebook a thumbs up for changing from the Fan Page to allowing users to “Like” a page. Here’s why… In the past, I’ve had clients who were uncomfortable asking people to become a “fan” of their organization or their work. The semantic change might help these clients and others feel a little more comfortable with building relationships through Facebook without sounding too self-serving or cocky.
That’s my initial impression. What do you think?

I like and and I don’t.
I think it will definitely help fan pages become more present and give a much broader voice to those of us who have fan pages. The perception of a lower commitment will increase our fanbase.
The counter to that however is that if it’s too easy to “like” a fan page then the loyalty of the fan base might be diluted. To prevent this we need to ensure that we provide great content on a regular basis.
Overall I think I’ll like it but time will tell.
Agreed. Content is king. There’s a lot of clutter, and it will only get worse. It will be interesting to see the extremes folks will go to to make sure they’re heard.
Another point I heard in the comments on Facebook is that the term “Like” doesn’t always apply. Sometimes we want to get the information and keep up to date on someone we don’t like. (Although, being a “fan” wasn’t much better). Maybe an option to “follow” (a la Twitter) could be a choice.
Brian, thanks for chiming in. Where can we “Like” a page of yours on FB?
I could not refrain from commenting. Perfectly written!
