But,as we discussed when you e-mailed, in terms of leaving the conference with any actionable new information... it just didn't happen. (And I think "slanted towards 'social media' stuff" is an understatement... and the FTC session was rigmarole). But, I'm glad you guys are listening. I really do hope that WOMMA becomes something that would be valuable for me in the future. But, right now, it most definitely isn't. I'd love to keep a dialogue open, though, and come back on board when and if there is value. That is the hot topic right now in marketing circles. However, I found many of the general sessions to help me be richer and smarter about offline word of mouth marketing. I picked up good insights from Emanuel Rosen, Rob BonDurant (Patagonia Mktg VP), the Academic panel, Kristian Bush (Sugarland), and the FTC session. I recently 'found,' WOMMA and was wondering if there is value in being a member (I'm a solo-preneur, not a large brand) and where the value may be for me. I connected with your comments about "social media is in there as a tool for enabling the conversations." Here, here! I'm aware of too many people who think a LinkedIn recommendation is more than enough of a referral to secure a new client, and then wonder why social media and networking don't work when the prospect chooses someone they met, grew to like and trust and then inked the deal with that company. To be fair, I also know lots of organizations using social media as a tool to get people together for face to face connections.
